Radiculitis - Inflammation
of a spinal nerve in the spinal canal or neural canal.
Radiculopathy - Non-inflammatory
abnormality of a spinal nerve in the spinal canal or neural foramen
resulting in neurological deficit.
Rate - The
number of times a stimulating pulse is delivered each second.
Reduction - Replacement
or realignement of a body part in normal position or restoration
of a bodily condition to normal.
Regional apical vertebral translation
- Distance in millimeters from
the line joining the midpoint of the upper and lower end vertebrae
of the measured curve to the midpoint of the apical vertebral
body or disc.
Resection - Surgical
removal of a part or all of an organ or other structure. Also
called excision.
Resorption - Loss
of a substance (such as bone tissue) through physiological or
pathological processes.
Risser sign
- used to indicate spinal maturity,
this refers to the appearance of a crescent line of bone formation
which appears across the top of each side of the pelvis.
Rob rotational prominence - Prominence of the ribs exhibited on forward bending.
Rod - A
metal implant used to immobilize and alienate the spine.
Roentgenogram - A
photograph made with x-rays.
